03 – Vintage pocket knives are folding knives

Vintage pocket knives are folding knives which are of significant interest among collectors for their unique and classic designs which had stood out for their ease and utility over the years. The long history of pocket knives may date as far back as the 6th to 5th BC when knives were still attached to belts through scabbards or sheaths. The length of a blade of the pocket knife only runs 3-5 inches which renders its convenience as they can be easily placed or hidden.

Well known vintage pocket knives are those folding knives used in the war. Each country especially during the war which has a military force had its own all-purpose knife generally referred to as the ‘army knife’. An army knife has more than one blade and other tools like can opener, corkscrew and scissors. The blades are usually of stainless steel and the grips are of hard plastic. Examples of army knives are the Swiss Army knife, the US Army knife made by the Camillus Cutlery Company and the Imperial Schrade and the large German army knives.

Vintage pocket knives cover all kinds of folding knives that are of value which are rare to find and are limited in its supply in every known country in the world.  Examples of US knives are the “Two Blade Pen Knife” made by PAL CUTLERY Co. in the U.S.A. probably between 1935 to 1953, the “Stag Swell End Jack” of 1965-1969 and the “Camper” made by Camillus Cutlery Co. in 1902-1944.
